Meet Coach Tiana: Her 28kg Fat Loss Journey Through Anxiety & Injury
Hi, I'm Tiana, an Assistant Coach at DVP Fitness.
If you've found your way to this blog, chances are you're looking to improve your health, lose weight, or feel more confident in yourself. Before I became a coach, I was on that journey too.
When people see my before and after photos, they see the 28kg weight loss.
What they don't see are the struggles that came with it. The anxiety. The panic attacks. The hospital visits. The spinal and neck injury that left me questioning what my future would look like.
For a long time, I felt stuck—physically and mentally. My confidence was at an all-time low, and I spent years waiting for things to change.
The truth is, nothing changed until I did.
The Turning Point
I've been training for over 10 years, but after battling anxiety and a spinal and neck injury early last year, I found myself at my heaviest and feeling completely disconnected from my body. I had to relearn how to train, recover, and look after my health in a way that supported both my physical and mental wellbeing. There wasn't one defining moment that changed everything - I simply got tired of feeling stuck. So I focused on small, consistent actions, and over time those actions helped me lose 28kg and rebuild my confidence.
The weight didn't come off overnight. There were setbacks, challenges, and plenty of difficult days along the way. But every time I showed up for myself - whether it was completing a workout, making a healthy choice, or keeping a promise to myself- I rebuilt a little more confidence.
Slowly, I started trusting myself again. While losing 28kg was an incredible achievement, it wasn't the biggest win. The biggest win was becoming someone who no longer let fear, anxiety, or self-doubt make every decision.
Why I Love Coaching
About this time last year, when I was around 13kg into my own weight loss journey, I joined DVP Fitness as an assistant coach. Going through my own transformation gave me a deeper understanding of the challenges that come with improving your health, building confidence, and creating lasting habits. I know what it's like to feel stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure where to start, which is why I love helping others navigate their own journey.
A Final Message From Me
There was a time in my life when I felt completely lost. My anxiety was overwhelming, my confidence was gone, and I genuinely couldn't see a way forward. I felt disconnected from myself, my body, and the life I wanted to live.
Looking back now, I'm so grateful I didn't give up on myself.
Not because everything suddenly became easy, but because I kept taking small steps forward, even on the days when I didn't feel like it.
